Greater Richmond Featured in Future FAB International
This comprehensive and integrated strategy is detailed and described
in Issue 12 of Future Fab International, a semi-annual publication whose
20,000 plus world-wide circulation is a whos who of the semiconductor
industry senior executives, chief engineers, fab-site managers,
heads of R&D, and manufacturing department heads. The strategy differentiates Greater Richmond from the competition by
addressing all of the key elements of the successful operation of a semiconductor
manufacturing complex: skilled and productive workforce; adequate water
and sewer capacity; reliable electric service; engineering schools and
support; fast track permitting; and an understanding and appreciation
of the critical needs of the industry. Many states and regions tout Shovel
Ready and Fab Ready sites. Based on industry input and
encouragement the Greater Richmond Partnership has taken a more holistic
and long-term approach. The complete issue can be found on the Future Fab International web site:
www.future-fab.com.
The most recent addition to the semiconductor strategy was the completion of a benchmarking study comparing Richmond to Singapore and Dresden. This analysis was conducted by M&W Zander in Plano, Texas and AngelousEconomics based in Austin, Texas. The complete report is available for download here. |
