The Greater Richmond Partnership, Inc., the regional economic development organization, is seeking a student intern for the Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 semesters. The Partnership is a 501c3 non-profit that markets the region to businesses domestically and internationally using advertising, strategic communications and social media.
The intern’s primary responsibility will include supporting our Regional Marketing and Business Development team. Responsibilities may include:
- Create social media and website content
- Provide assistance with events, depending on availability
- Develop newsletters and make website updates via Expression Engine and MailChimp
- Coordinate advertising campaigns within Google Adwords
- Award submissions
- Develop marketing collateral and publications
The Partnership prefers a senior Marketing, Advertising or Master’s Degree student for this paid internship ($12/hour). The position is open to current VCU students.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) and Internet searching is necessary. The ideal candidate will have basic knowledge of business-to-business marketing. Strong language, writing and analytical skills are recommended.

Fall/Spring Semester 2016-2017
The Greater Richmond Partnership, Inc., a regional, public-private economic development organization located in downtown Richmond, is looking for an intern for the Summer/Fall Semester of 2016. The Partnership’s mission is to attract new business and assist existing business in the City of Richmond and the neighboring counties of Chesterfield, Hanover and Henrico.
This is a paid position at $12.00 per hour, 15-20 hours per week, with on-site underground parking provided.
Responsibilities may include:
- Performing demographic analysis and preparing maps
- Collecting, analyzing and presenting economic development information for prospect companies and consultants
- Preparing profiles of domestic and international companies
- Updating marketing materials and publications
- Assisting with research for upcoming events and tradeshows
Additional projects may include research and information support to the GRP partner communities, research on GRP’s targeted industries, updating PowerPoint presentations and other marketing materials, and assisting with the Partnership’s websites and electronic communications.
Familiarity with GIS, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Access) and Internet searching is necessary. The ideal candidate will have basic knowledge of economic development theory and will have preferably completed the “Foundations for Development Planning” MURP course or have other economics experience.
