County of Henrico

Henrico County is a dynamic suburban county with a population of 296,415. It is the location of Richmond International Airport and of Richmond International Raceway, which hosts NASCAR races twice a year. Henrico was established in 1634 as one of the eight original shires or counties of Virginia and named for Henry, Prince of Wales, the eldest son of King James I of England. The county has a total land area of 245 square miles and is bordered by the City of Richmond and by Chesterfield, Hanover, Charles City, Goochland and New Kent counties.
