Michael joined the Partnership in 2007 as the Media Graphics Administrator tasked with creative development for GRP’s publications, advertisements, website management, and technical support. He has created several marketing pieces, with fan favorites being the “Greater Richmond day & night 2008-2009 calendar” and the photo book, “Greater Richmond: A Visual Visit”.
On why he works for GRP, Michael says, “I feel like I’m working for the community” and “it provides me the opportunity to participate in a broad range of work – marketing, public relations, web and print.”
Prior to joining the Partnership, Michael worked for The Daily Progress in Charlottesville as News Editor for more than two years. During his six-plus years in newspapers, he received numerous Virginia Press Association Awards for design and writing.
Michael received his B.S. in Mass Communications (Advertising) at Virginia Commonwealth University. He moved to Henrico County with his wife in 2005 and enjoys that the region is very family friendly. “Richmond is a good mid-sized city to start a family and a career.” He also favors the region’s proximity to the mountains, the beach and to Washington, D.C. As an amateur photographer, he takes advantage of the architecture and variety of scenery Greater Richmond has to offer.
Michael is particularly keen on movies. In fact, he worked in the art department of two feature films, The Contender and Hearts in Atlantis, both filmed in Richmond.
