Valerie Derricott is tasked with ensuring the GRP office runs smoothly. She wears several hats, and generally at the same time. Valerie manages human resources, the GRP's finances and accounting, Greg’s calendar, coordination of all GRP events, office equipment maintenance, and supplies.  She also serves as the Corporate Secretary on the Board of Directors. “Admittedly, handling the responsibilities of human resources and working with the diverse people that interact with the Partnership is my favorite part of the job.”

Valerie joined the Partnership in 2007 after working for Dominion for 27 years and served as Supervisor of Nuclear Records and Human Resources Administrator. During her time there, she attended J. Sergeant Reynolds. Her certification classes included Six Sigma, record managment and human resources. She also developed and implemented the Diversity Council and received extensive leadership training.

Her leadership skills were recognized by Executive Woman International (EWI) of which she is a member with the Leadership Award.  She is also a member of the Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM) and Association for Record Managers and Administrators (ARMA).

A native of Greater Richmond, Valerie and her large, extended family all reside in Hanover County. She is the second oldest of six children and is married with two sons. “I love Hanover because of the small town closeness. And I like working in the city because it’s easy to access and there is so much to do.”

Greater Richmond’s quality of life is one of the reasons she remains in the area. “There is more to do than people realize- entertainment, education, music.” Among her favorite things to do are travel and enjoy the diverse restaurants, go to the movies, take in a play, listen to live music - “just enjoy the entertainment the region offers”.

When not working, Valerie continues her over 30 year service as her church’s secretary and sings in the church's choirs. While an extrovert, she enjoys her down time. You’ll often find Valerie during her lunch hour walking or sitting quietly reading somewhere around downtown Richmond.
