Environmental Regulations
Virginia administers its environmental programs chiefly through the Department of Environmental Quality and the Virginia Marine Resources Commission. The state adheres to federal guidelines and does not impose additional restrictions beyond the federal mandates.
The Richmond area is classified as "marginal" nonattainment for ozone. This in the second least serious classification, after "basic," which means that the area's ozone problem is only borderline.
