Vice President of Strategy

The Greater Richmond Partnership, Inc. (GRP) is the lead regional economic development organization for the City of Richmond and the counties of Chesterfield, Hanover, and Henrico in Virginia.

The Position

Under the direction of the President and CEO, the Vice President of Strategy is responsible for the organization’s fundraising and the management of strategic projects and initiatives that enable the organization and the region to have a competitive advantage and become the top mid-sized region in the U.S. for companies to invest.

This is an at-will position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages the organization’s fundraising, investor relations and events program under the direction of the President and CEO. Manages the Investor Relations Committee.
  • Assists in the development, implementation and measurement of the organization’s short and long-term strategy, performance, and competitive position to accomplish GRP goals and objectives.
  • Maintains awareness of the competitive landscape to identify emerging areas of opportunity. Works with the President and CEO to benchmark best of class organizations within economic development.
  • Works to compile reports, presentations and contracts for stakeholders on an ongoing basis. Works with the rest of the management team to ensure the organization is on track to hit goals.
  • Manages and directs strategic projects and initiatives that transcend the organization’s specific business units and drive transformational change and/or enable the organization to achieve and maintain a sustainable competitive advantage.
  • Collaborates closely with other managers – VP of Operations (to manage billing process for public and private sector investors), EVP and VP of Business Development (to conduct lead generation and business development activities) and VPs of Marketing and Research (to provide input on prospect proposals, presentations, etc.).
  • Acts as Database Administrator to manage and maintain the Salesforce CRM database, ensure data integrity, create and manage reports, system upgrades, users, and access levels. Manage the budget for CRM and coordinate all billing, maintenance contracts, and fees related to this technology platform. Manages CRM training for team members and develops standard operating procedures.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with local economic development partners, Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) and other economic development organizations in the region.
  • Represents the Greater Richmond Partnership at various meetings and community functions and on community organizations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or a closely related field. At least seven years of related professional experience.
  • Exceptional organizational and management skills, including the handling of multiple projects simultaneously and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of best practices in economic development and related strategies and policies.
  • Ability to successfully negotiate and resolve high level, multi-agency economic development issues.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to effectively present in front of executives, groups and key stakeholders.
  • Possesses stellar interpersonal skills. A team player with a positive attitude and professional, ‘can-do’ demeanor open to taking direction and learning new skills.
  • Strong computer skills and mastery of tools including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Salesforce.

Desired Qualifications

  • A Master’s or other advanced degree.
  • A professional certification in fundraising or economic development.

Working Conditions

  • Comfortable working conditions, handling light weight, intermittent sitting, standing and walking. Occasional exposure to hazards associated with construction site visits including exposure to multiple-story elevations, cramped quarters, temporary stairs and planks, temperature extremes, dust, noise, power equipment and vehicular traffic.
  • Considerable exposure to stressful situations and stress as a result of human behavior and various responsibilities.
  • Non-traditional working hours which may include extensive domestic and international travel as well as evenings and weekends.
  • Operates a motor vehicle requiring a standard Virginia Driver’s License to host site visits. Operates a variety of standard office equipment including a personal computer, copier, fax machine, telephone, calculator and based on job assignment may require the performance of other essential and marginal functions.

Marketing Manager

The Greater Richmond Partnership, Inc. (GRP) is the lead regional economic development organization for the City of Richmond and the counties of Chesterfield, Hanover, and Henrico in Virginia.

The Position

Under the direction of the Vice President of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing Manager will work to implement GRP’s marketing and communications plans to enhance Greater Richmond’s perception among corporate executives in targeted industries as well as consultants to increase their consideration of locating in the region.

This is an at-will position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plans, researches, writes content for website, blog, social media, newsletters, presentations, videos and other marketing materials. Optimizes for search engine optimization.
  • Writes media pitches and press releases. Researches targeted media and influencers and works with VP of Marketing and Communications to coordinate outreach. May work with third-party consultants.
  • Interacts and works with media and influencers. May serve as corporate spokesperson.
  • Manages GRP’s social media presence and optimizes for increased performance and engagement.
  • Creates and manages content and editorial calendars under the direction of the VP of Marketing and Communications.
  • Manages newsletter content and distribution.
  • Updates and maintains organization’s websites using content management systems.
  • Designs and updates presentations and other marketing materials.
  • Photography, videography, graphic design and video editing as needed.
  • Develops monthly marketing reports and analyzes performance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field. Three years of marketing and communications experience. Work experience may be substituted for education year-by-year on a case-by-case basis.
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills. Command of the Associated Press stylebook.
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier), social media management and measurement tools, content marketing systems such as HubSpot and WordPress, HTML, Google Analytics.
  • Must be able to help shape abstract concepts then produce a definitive product, as well as work on numerous projects simultaneously.

Desired Qualifications

  • A Masters, advanced degree, or professional certification.
  • Bilingual.
  • Experience implementing SEO and SEM.
  • Knowledge of Google Ads platform.
  • Familiarity with platforms such as Salesforce, Canva and Tableau.

Lead Generation Manager

The Greater Richmond Partnership, Inc. (GRP) is the lead regional economic development organization for the City of Richmond and the counties of Chesterfield, Hanover, and Henrico in Virginia.

The Position

Under the direction of the Executive Vice President of Business Development, the Lead Generation Manager works to identify companies and corporate executives within targeted industries that may be ripe for expansion or relocation opportunities. This role will conduct outbound outreach to potential clients in an effort to increase awareness of the Greater Richmond market.

This is an at-will position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stays abreast of current news and trends within industries to identify companies that may be ripe for expansion or relocation opportunities.
  • Utilizes lead generation tools to identify both companies and corporate executives within targeted industries and compiles and maintains lists for outreach in Salesforce and HubSpot to track activity.
  • Works on project proposals, Requests for Information (RFI) and presentations for clients and collaboratively works with other team members to craft “Why Richmond” pitches.
  • Creates sales pitch emails, scripts and presentations and conducts outbound outreach to potential clients via phone, email, social media to a high number of corporate targets each week with the goal to gauge interest from companies on their expansion plans.
  • Collects, analyzes and presents economic development information and profiles on prospective companies and consultants.
  • Supports Account Based Marketing (ABM) activities and works closely with Marketing Manager and VP of Marketing to align marketing and outreach efforts.
  • Works with team to identify suitable sites and buildings and maintains a working knowledge of available commercial real estate.
  • Copy editing, proofing and updating RFIs, presentations, website, marketing materials as needed.
  • Schedules tours, makes travel and logistical arrangements for inbound visits and outbound sales missions.
  • May assist in designing cluster maps in Tableau or ESRI.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduated from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field. One to three years of marketing, communications, sales, or business development experience. Work experience may be substituted for education year-by-year on a case-by-case basis.
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills. Persuasive and resourceful.
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Salesforce, Google Alerts.
  • Command of LinkedIn as a sales platform.
  • Familiarity with content marketing systems such as HubSpot.
  • Must be able to help shape abstract concepts then produce a definitive product, as well as work on numerous projects simultaneously.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bilingual.
  • Command of LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Gazelle, HubSpot and Salesforce.
  • Familiarity with platforms such as Tableau, ESRI, Canva.
