Richmond Region lands PGA Korn Ferry Tour Championship

October 23, 2025

The Federal Club hosts the 2026 Korn Ferry Tour Championship.

The Richmond Region will take the national stage next fall when The Federal Club hosts the 2026 Korn Ferry Tour Championship. The event is the season-ending tournament for the PGA TOUR’s developmental circuit for golfers seeking to play on the PGA TOUR.

Hanover County leaders joined regional partners from Henrico and Richmond Region Tourism at a PGA news conference this morning to announce that the Korn Ferry Tour Championship presented by Virginia’s Richmond Region will call The Federal Club home for the next four years, beginning in October 2026. The news follows the conclusion of the Dominion Energy Charity Classic, which recently ended its 10-year run in the region.

“This event offers an incredible opportunity to welcome thousands of visitors who may be discovering Hanover for the first time… It’s a chance to showcase The Federal Club along with our community’s hospitality and scenic beauty. We’re proud to share what makes Hanover such a special place.”

The new Korn Ferry Tour Championship will debut Oct. 5–11, 2026. All four rounds of the tournament will be broadcast live on the Golf Channel, bringing national attention to The Federal Club, a private Arnold Palmer-designed course near the Hanover-Henrico County line. The event will culminate with a ceremony honoring the Tour’s top 20 players who will earn PGA TOUR cards for the following season.

“This tournament is a golden opportunity,” said Hanover County’s new tourism director Rachel Smith. “It’s rare to be able to launch a tourism brand and immediately connect it to a national event that draws thousands of visitors and viewers. It’s the perfect springboard to encourage people to visit and explore all that Hanover has to do.”

The Korn Ferry Tour’s four-year run in Hanover is expected to benefit local small businesses and nonprofit organizations. PGA organizers traditionally invest in the communities where tournaments are held through vendor partnerships for tents, food, beverages and entertainment, as well as a charity Pro-Am event.

Brandon Turner, director of Hanover County Economic Development, said national TV coverage and the influx of thousands of out-of-town visitors will elevate Hanover’s name recognition and create new opportunities for local businesses.

“While here, visitors may also be interested in seeing some of our agricultural, historic and entertainment venues,” Turner said. “They’ll also need places to stay and eat, too, which makes this tournament a tremendous opportunity for hotels, restaurants and retailers to position themselves to be seen and visited during the event.”

Being mindful of The Federal Club’s adjacent neighborhood and community, tournament organizers are developing a parking and transportation plan and coordinating with Hanover County Public Safety teams to help manage traffic and keep nearby neighborhoods running smoothly throughout the event.

“This tournament reflects what regional collaboration can achieve,” Budesky said. “We’re proud to see Hanover at the heart of an event that celebrates both world-class golf and the welcoming spirit of Central Virginia.”
