RICHMOND, Va. (Sept. 9, 2024) โ The Greater Richmond Partnership (GRP) won a Silver Excellence Award for Innovation in Economic Development Week from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). IEDCโs annual awards program recognizes the worldโs leading economic development programs and initiatives. In total, GRP has claimed 22 IEDC Excellence Awards since achieving its first award in 2003.
This year, IEDC recognized GRP for its social media series highlighting Economic Development Week. GRP crafted a one-week campaign to draw attention to Greater Richmondโs four localities: the City of Richmond and counties of Chesterfield, Hanover and Henrico.
The team leveraged a viral social media trend in which local economic developers declare statements such as, โWeโre Greater Richmond. Of course, we love touting the regionโs arts, culture and overall quality of life.โ GRP filmed one video per locality plus one video featuring GRP executives and one video of bloopers. The series increased impressions by more than 200 percent, engagements by nearly 300 percent and audience growth by 82 percent compared to the previous week.
โFor 30 years now, GRP and its four local partners have embraced regional collaboration,โ said GRP President + CEO Jennifer Wakefield. โThe success of this group-effort social media series proves how well our region joins together for a greater purpose. Iโm glad IEDC continues to recognize the great work happening in Greater Richmond.โ
