With demand for its products heating up, a company with a long tenure in Chesterfield is expanding its local manufacturing capabilities.
Super Radiator Coils is planning to open a nearly 100,000-square-foot production facility at 8800 Whitepine Road, the company announced earlier this month.
The plant would operate in part of a relatively new industrial building near the Chesterfield airport, and would manufacture products alongside the company’s existing plant in North Chesterfield. Super Radiator Coils makes heat exchangers and specialty coils for a variety of industries.
The new Super Radiator Coils site is slated to open ahead of a planned expansion of the company’s Chesterfield facility, which was announced more than a year ago.
Super Radiator Coils has prioritized the opening of the leased Whitepine Road space to more quickly expand its production capabilities than would be possible through the capital project still planned at 451 Southlake Blvd., said Matt Holland, vice president of the company’s Virginia division.
“There’s a lot of business opportunity, and getting a building built on a timeline to meet some of the growth opportunities didn’t fully align,” Holland said. “We decided to do the leased space as the next, incremental capacity (increase).”
The HVAC and data center sectors are the company’s two largest growth areas these days, he said, and Super Radiator Coils is trying to meet demand from those customers. The company also makes heating and cooling equipment for food processors, power generation and the military.
The new facility is expected to be operational toward the end of the first quarter of 2026, with about 120 employees stationed there.
