Four Virginia-based companies have been named to Working Mother magazine’s 2015 list of the 100 best companies for working parents.
The Virginia companies include Richmond-based health care provider Bon Secours Virginia Health System.
Three companies based in McLean also made the list: the engineering and technical services firm Booz Allen Hamilton; credit card issuer Capital One Financial Inc., which is the Richmond region’s largest private employer; and mortgage company Freddie Mac.
The companies were selected based on an application with more than 450 questions about leave policies, workforce representation, benefits, child care, advancement programs and flexibility policies.
The magazine said 80 percent of employees at Bon Secours use flextime and 45 percent use compressed schedules. Working mothers also cited the health care provider’s on-site day care facilities, local child care discounts, and subsidized sick-child and backup care.
Working Mother said almost half the hires at the top 100 companies last year were women. New moms get an average of eight weeks of fully paid maternity leave at the firms, and 75 percent of employees use flextime.
