Partnership to fly on inaugural Denver flight for marketing mission

March 29, 2016

RICHMOND, VA – The first nonstop flight connecting Richmond and the western United States via Denver, Colo., will have a few special passengers from the Richmond Region. Brian Fulk, the Greater Richmond Partnership’s Senior Vice President of Business Development, is leading a team of regional representatives to the Mile High City.

Representatives from Chesterfield and Henrico counties’ economic development organizations will also travel on the inaugural flight for the three-day marketing mission.

“The Greater Richmond Partnership sees this as a wonderful opportunity to connect with Denver and its business community,” said Fulk. “It’s easy to do business in the Richmond Region, and now it is easy to fly here, too.”

Greater Richmond and Denver are homes to a number of diverse industry groups, which include: Food & Beverage, Advanced Manufacturing, Finance & Insurance, Health & Life Sciences, and Professional & Creative Services. “For those of us in the Greater Richmond region, we expect this new connection to quickly lead to expansion opportunities for companies operating in these sectors, as well as for others interested in expanding to the East Coast,” said Fulk.

United Airlines’ inaugural flight out of Richmond International Airport will occur on April 5th. Denver is the 11th-most popular destination for Richmond travelers, topping more than 60,000 annually the last few years.

“Our local economic development teams all see opportunity in bolstering our air travel options,” said Barry Matherly, President/CEO of the Partnership. “Greater Richmond is the perfect option for many companies due to its strategic location on the East Coast. We want to make sure that companies in Colorado know that we have an open door for business.”
