PNC Bank, one of the nation’s super regional bank holding companies, has opened an office in downtown Richmond.

Opening an office in Richmond made sense since the bank already has commercial customers here, said Richard Bynum, the regional president for PNC’s Washington, D.C., and Virginia markets.

“We have been coming down to Richmond for a number of years from the Greater Washington market,” Bynum said. “We feel good about the community accepting us. It made sense for us to go to another market in Virginia. Instead of coming to Richmond we want to be of Richmond.”

The 3,360-square-foot office is in the Riverside on the James building with space for about 20 employees. The offices take up part of the seventh floor.
