The streak of growth at the Richmond International Airport showed no signs of letting up, with September marking the 19th consecutive month that year-over-year passenger totals moved upward.
The 290,551 passengers last month marked a 5.6 increase over last September. For the calendar year, the airport’s traffic has risen 4.7 percent.
The NASCAR race weekend in Richmond and the UCI 2015 Road World Championships provided an extra boost to September traffic. The Monday after the international cycling event ended was the airport’s busiest day in about seven years.
