Stone Brewing Co. moves new tanks to brewery in Richmond

Four tanks, weighing 12.25 tons each, were shipped on a barge up the James River on Wednesday evening. On Thursday, the tanks were moved to Stone Brewing Co., the California-based craft brewer that opened its first East Coast brewery in Richmond’s Fulton neighborhood last year.
“From a craft (beer) standpoint, it is pretty gigantic,” said Jeff Martin, Stone Brewing’s director of operations for the East Coast.
The new tanks, manufactured in Germany, will enable Stone Brewing to expand its brewing capacity at the East Richmond plant, which also has a tasting room.
